:: Restylane & Botulinum Toxin Treatment

::
Restylane, Restylane Fine Lines, Perlane

These products offer natural treatment not only for smoothing wrinkles but now also for facial contouring and lip sculpting!

Now thin superficial lines can be more easily treated, deep folds can be more effectively smoothed away and more volume can be given to lips, the chin or the cheeks.

The three products, RESTYLANE Fine Lines, RESTYLANE and PERLANE form Q-MED Esthetics product range which covers the treatment of all the facial tissue augmentation indications shown here.

Before                                                                       After

All the products are based on a non-animal crystal clear hyaluronic acid gel. Restylane is well documented for its safety and effectiveness. When injected the hyaluronic acid lifts up the tissue under a wrinkle or gives volume to the lips, chin or cheeks. Each product is specially designed for its specific indication.
Optimal results can be maintained over a period of time by regularly repeating the treatment.

* Non-Animal origin, no risk of transmitting diseases from animals.

* No skin test needed, the treatment takes about 30 minutes.

* Hyaluronic acid is a natural, volume maintaining substance in the skin, but it decreases with age.

* Dissolves naturally

* Long-lasting

* Each product is specially designed for its specific indication.

:: Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum toxin A is available as either Botox, or Dysport. It is an injectable drug that is used to weaken muscles. It has been used for years to treat a variety of conditions relating to muscle overactivity, such as spasticity, blepharospasm, pain related to muscle spasm and squints, but is also used for cosmetic reasons to help reduce sweating and for facial lines and wrinkles. It has been used for the latter cosmetic purposes since about 1990, and there are many clinical trials confirming its effectiveness and relative safety. Botulinum toxin A (I will call this Botox from now on) is a neurotoxin, derived from a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. It prevents the nerve signal from reaching the muscle to make it contract. Its effect is not permanent, gradually wearing off after a few months, so treatment with this agent needs to be repeated for the desired effect to be maintained. Botox is a prescription only medicine (POM) and is not licensed for cosmetic use in this country. Vistabel, Dysport, Azzalure are other product brands that are used for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles. It should be preferably administered under a doctor’s supervision in a Healthcare Commission approved facility.

:: What sort of lines and wrinkles can Botox treat?

The best facial regions to treat are the forehead, from and crows feet areas. The precise injection of the appropriate amount of Botox is vitally important to ensure a good result with minimal risk. A Dermatologist with detailed knowledge of facial anatomy and years of experience in facial treatments and surgery would be the best person to seek advice from when considering such treatment.

:: How is the treatment carried out?

An initial consultation is vital to establish your suitability of Botox. It is important to make sure it is the right treatment for you, as sometimes it may not be appropriate with other treatments more appropriate than Botox for your problem, which a dermatologically-trained doctor is best placed to advise on. Once the consultation is complete (this can take up to 30 minutes for the assessment as well as for the risks and benefits of Botox to be discussed), the treatment can be carried out, if appropriate. This can be done immediately if sufficient time has been allowed, or a further appointment organised. The treatment itself takes about 15 minutes to do and consists of a series of tiny injections into the area to be treated.

:: Does Botox treatment hurt?

Tiny needles are used to inject into the muscles, so pin pricks may be felt and then a little discomfort as the fluid is injected. Bleeding can also occur, but this is usually minimal, stopping with gentle pressure within minutes if not seconds.
